Automotive Oil Seal

Automotive oil seals are core sealing components that ensure the normal operation of key components such as the automotive power system and transmission system. Their main function is to prevent oil leakage and block the intrusion of external impurities.

1. Core functions and roles

Sealing and leak prevention: This is its core function. It can effectively seal key fluids such as engine oil, transmission oil, and differential oil, preventing insufficient lubrication and malfunctions of components caused by leakage.
Dust and dirt prevention: Prevent external dust, sediment, water, and other impurities from entering the sealed cavity, protect internal precision components (such as bearings and gears) from wear, and extend their service life.
Maintaining pressure: In some lubrication or transmission systems under pressure, oil seals can assist in maintaining stable internal pressure within the system, ensuring normal circulation and lubrication of the oil.

2. Main application areas

Automotive oil seals come in a wide variety depending on their usage and installation locations. The key application areas include:
Engine system: The front and rear crankshaft oil seals, camshaft oil seal, and valve oil seal are responsible for sealing the engine oil inside the engine.
Transmission system: The transmission input/output shaft oil seal and differential oil seal prevent leakage of transmission oil and differential oil.
Auxiliary systems: water pump oil seal, steering booster pump oil seal, and air conditioning compressor oil seal, ensuring the oil seal of various auxiliary components.

3. Mainstream technology development trends

Material upgrade: From traditional nitrile rubber to fluororubber, silicone rubber, and other special rubbers that are resistant to high temperatures, oils, and aging, to meet the higher operating conditions of new energy vehicles.
Structural optimization: Adopt a design featuring a double lip and a dust-proof lip, or add a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coating to the lip, to enhance sealing performance and wear resistance.
Adaptation to new energy: Develop specialized oil seals for new components such as motors and battery cooling systems to meet special requirements such as oil-free, waterproof, and high and low temperature resistance.
